Olympic Basketball begins! USA goes undefeated during the national tour!

Team USA beat Argentina and Spain this past week ending their national tour going 5-0. During this national tour we uncovered many new truths regarding team USA. Firstly, their inability to bang with the bigger guys from other teams (Luis Scola, Pau Gasol, Serge Ibaka) costs them many unwanted fouls, second chance points, and rebounds both offensive and defensive. Regardless of that, they still beat both teams. Spain was the easier opponent winning by 25+ points, and Argentina gave USA a hard time only winning by 6.

Secondly, they are definitely poised to win the gold this year, regardless of their smaller stature. Does this mean that even though they aren’t as big or strong as other teams in the Olympics and they still win makes them better than the dream team? Absolutely not. In fact, this team isn’t as good as the redeem team of 08′. The redeem team’s nucleus of champions and their stellar stars still uncrowned championships were playing marvelously together. This time around, James Harden, Kevin Love, Anthony Davis, Russell Westbrook, and Andre Iguodala don’t seem to know their roles very well, and if they do they aren’t producing what they should. But there’s no need for a whole dissection of the team’s flaws, they will still win this years Olympics giving some new faces their first gold medal. It makes me happy, because some of those guys getting medals won’t be getting NBA championship rings. At least they have this, and it sure is a hell of an honor.

France is our first Olympic opponent! We play them on July 29th. Team USA is more than ready to take this team on, but expect big games from Tony Parker and Chris Paul. CP3 has a sort of vendetta for Tony Parker according to my sources, in fact CP3 wants to expose Tony Parker the same way Tony did in the playoffs last season. Can’t wait for this dynamite point guard battle! Also, expect a big game from Nicolas Batum. He wants to prove his greatness this time around.
